Huge Trough Metate & Mano (Casa Grande, 900-1100AD)

This are extremely hard to find and a great way to display early food production in Arizona. This metate was made of “basalt” or “lava rock” and worn down over years of grinding maize for consumption by the Hohokam of Arizona (900-1100AD) in the Casa Grande Region. This piece was found on private land and passed through a family estate. There is a small hole in the bottom, however, you see very few trough metates that are this deep.
