Early Fred Harvey Kansas Photomatic (1939)

An early photo of a young boy in Fred Harvey’s establishment in Kansas in 1939 (Bisonte or El Vaquero). Can you imagine what this little boy could have seen? Trains, Harvey girls, advertisements for the Indian detour, and opportunities to visit places all over the Southwest!

Kansas served as the origin point for the Fred Harvey company and it’s impact on tourism to places like Arizona and New Mexico was tremendous.
